Hua Hin Storm Fells Trees and Causes Power Outage
In the worst storm that Hua Hin has seen in 10 years the town and surrounding area saw widespread flooding and uprooted trees that knocked out power for most of the day.
Hua Hin was hit by high winds and rain early Friday morning causing flooding as the run off from the hills built up in low lying areas such as Kao Takiab and along Petchkasem road. In some places the water was as much as half a meter deep causing flooding to property and congestion on the roads.

Hundreds of trees were left toppled across the area, bringing down power lines in several places. Work was underway throughout the day to clear up the damage and restore power to homes and businesses.
Fallen trees on the Hua Hin bypass road was causing delays during the morning and Phetkasem road north of Cha-Am, around the Santorini park, was severely flooded for several kilometers on the north bound carriageway. For those travelling to Bangkok delays of several hours could be expected.
Although unrelated Hua Hin’s storm coincided with the super typhoon that battered the Philipines the same day that caused widespread devastation.
We had a few trees topple on our resort, narrowly missing one of the houses. Best to stay indoors.
It took almost 7 hours for us to reach Bangkok from Hua Hin. Almost missed our flight.
