Getting around Hua Hin by Tuk Tuk

Travelling around Hua Hin by Tuk Tuk can be a fun experience but settle on a price before you get in.

Who doesn’t like speeding around town with the wind in your hair in the back of a Tuk Tuk? Some have three wheels and some have four but they can normally get you where you want to go fast even if there is heavy traffic.

But while they can be fun for short trips you may want to consider your options if you’re looking to travel a little further as they can soon become expensive and a little uncomfortable.

While taxi’s aren’t as abundant as in Bangkok they are available. There are some taxi ranks in the center of town or you can always ask at one of the hotels.

If you decide to go the Tuk Tuk route then always agree on a price before you start your journey as they can be quite pricey if you’re going more than a few kilometers and make sure that the driver understands exactly where you want to go.

If you’re staying within the confines of Petchkasem road then it may be worth flagging down one of the green buses called a songthaew (basically a converted pickup truck) . You can get from one end of town to the other for around 10 baht a person if you’re willing to wait for one.

If you have the patience then you can always try to haggle the cost of the journey down. This is more likely to work if there are a lot of drivers waiting around.

If you’re going to be doing a lot of travelling around and don’t mind driving then it may be more cost effective, if there are a few of you, to hire a rental car for the day.
